What Works Best?!?

Below are some things that work best when I speak.

  • I use a laptop, bring a flash drive, and Power Point and PDF. I bring them all with me. I do not have any wires, adaptors or power cords to hook up to your sound systems.
  • I bring my own wireless lavaliere microphone with a clip on microphone. I don't like ear pieces as I'm not a singer. And absolutely no hand held or podium microphones PLEASE! I can't speak unless my hands are free (see my last name for why).
  • My remote control has disappeared -- again. Please bring yours and set up my laptop or yours within sight, no more than 20 feet of where I'll be standing.
  • For interaction, it's helpful to have a microphone in the room for audience members. I do take questions at the end of my presentations. This is best done if one of your staff is ready with a microphone. Or give out index cards for questions, have your staff collect them and I'll answer questions that way.
  • I will send you my handouts in a PDF file for you to print. You may print them in black/white. They cannot be placed on a website for downloading unless you have my OK.
  • Do not schedule anything other than a break after I talk. Give me 20 -30 minutes up front or at my table to talk to audience members who want to speak to me, give me their cards, or purchase my products.
  • I sleep best in a queen size bed, in a non-smoking, very dark, and very quiet room. I like rooms with microwaves and refrigerators in the room. Only decaf and extra cups since I usually bring quick cook oatmeal with me for breakfast. When I speak, I prefer having a 2 nights stay in a hotel. Tell me who is sponsoring my room and as long as my stay is comfortable, I'll mention them at the beginning of my talk.
  • Crescent, classroom, or chairs lined up are the best way to set up my rooms. Chances are that your audience will take lot of notes, so consider that when you set up the room.
  • Leave 30 feet between me and the audience so that I have enough room to walk around. I also like to walk into the audience if that option is available and I'm not on stage.
  • If you'll be sending a photographer to the event, warn me and have them take their photos in the beginning of my talk.
  • My slides are not available to download or as a handout unless I'm paid for them. Same goes for video, webinars, or audio.
  • I will send you my intro. Please don't change it in any way unless you get an OK to do so.
  • Other: I like chocolate, the darker the better. I like red wine, especially Italian. I don't have any when I speak, nor do I eat within 3 hours of speaking.
  • Feel free to call me before the event. Email is OK, too. However, do not email me within 24 hours of my talk as I'm not always online.
